The second release of Duncan Taylor’s Black Bull Special Reserve, a blended scotch whisky that uses 50% malt to grain, as with their 12 and 40-year-old releases.
After the first release popularity, this one is set to fly off the shelves, with just 871 bottles produced.
The nose is rich and robust. Initially fruits – raisins, gooseberries, blood orange; and nuts – roasted hazelnuts and walnuts, that morphs into toffee fudge, fresh cream, toasted oak, dry spice and a touch of smoke. A creamy and complex palate of sultanas, orange zest, mango, chocolate orange and coffee awaits and finishes long, fruity and a bit dry.
